Infiltrator Water Technologies is a market leader within the onsite wastewater treatment industry, Infiltrator manufactures a variety of revolutionary products and innovative, environmentally friendly alternatives to traditional stone and pipe leachfield and concrete septic wastewater system components. We sell our products through wholesale distribution across the United States and Canada for use on properties with onsite wastewater treatment systems.
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
This advanced level position exists to lead a manufacturing team. These leaders have the experience, skill, and knowledge to develop team members to have the same high performing skills that they exhibit. They have the primary responsibility of working with their teams to continually look for ways to improve production processes with safety and quality in mind. They focus on priorities, communicate, and cooperate effectively with other departments, demonstrate strong drive/self-motivation, remain positive in the face of adversity, and do not fear change. They enthusiastically lead their team to support Orenco's vision, safety, quality, and production goals. A Manufacturing Lead validates the work of others and respectfully corrects them when errors are found. They lead and build their team by sharing information, communicating well, and backing up their words with appropriate actions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & KRA (Key Result Areas):
All Manufacturing Departments
> Safety/Culture
- Continuously maintains Orenco Management's safety, cultural, and professional standards.
- Promotes, encourages, and reinforces a positive safety culture, safe practices, and a safe work environment to all employees.
- Reviews part production and quality on a regular basis and works with operators to improve processes and operating procedures.
- Follows SOP's (Standard Operating Procedure) and MOP's (Machine Operating Procedure) in all areas.
- Keeps Management informed of any material, equipment, safety, quality, and policy/practice violations.
- Performs repairs to parts that have defects and works with operators and maintenance to identify and correct the root problem.
- Trains employees in production, safety, and quality procedures and processes.
- Must be able to identify and correct, through troubleshooting, most problems that occur and perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Tactfully deals with personnel issues by providing coaching to employees working outside Orenco's culture.
- Provides documentation for both negative behavior and outstanding achievements as well.
- Works as part of the team and sets a good working example consistently.
- Is diligent in watching for unsafe work practices and ensures all policies are adhered to.
- Ensures quality of products before releasing finished product to inventory or shipping.
- Inspects raw materials for quality before the manufacturing process is begun.
- Monitors employee performance during manufacturing to ensure all processes are being followed properly to ensure quality of parts.
- Inspects work areas for cleanliness.
- Reports compliance issues for OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration).
- Always communicates courteously and professionally.
- Contributes to and develops a positive team environment.
- Supports and implements management decisions while being confident enough to ask clarifying questions.
- Facilitates daily team meetings for employees to communicate daily production plans.
- Trains employees in manufacturing procedures, processes, and safety.
- Provides coaching to employees on improving production, performance, quality, and safety.
- Knows Orenco's Vision statement, communicates it to their team and others they work with and is aligned with Orenco's culture.
- Ensures drawings, SOPs and MOPs are kept up to date and available.
- Direct involvement in the creation of SOP's and MOP's.
- Responsible for verifying the training of employees on equipment and lock out/tag out procedures and ensuring the training documentation is completed and given to the Production Supervisor.
- Must be able to recognize production bottlenecks and organize a team to come up with a solution.
- Work is to be done during normal manufacturing business hours with occasional overtime as needed.
- May include shift work.
- Regular, consistent, and predictable attendance is required.
- Performs other duties as assigned in any area assigned.
> Systems Production
- Cuts various lengths of PVC (Polyvinyl chloride), Polyethylene, and ABS (Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene) pipe, tubing, sheets, and Polyester filter fabric in the manufacture of various components and finished products.
- Drills, saws, grinds, sands, sews, and welds fiberglass, PVC, ABS, and Polyethylene pipe, tubing, sheets, miscellaneous fittings, components, and Polyester filter fabric.
- Dispenses and applies methacrylate adhesive, superglue, and various PVC cements in the manufacture of various components and finished products.
- Grinds, trims, and reams other finished products in preparation for shipment.
> Work to be done during manufacturing business hours, which may include an occasional early and/or later shift as needed. Occasional overtime may be required.
> Regular, consistent, and predictable attendance is required.
> Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- Must have achieved Advanced Manufacturing Tech or Senior Tech level.
- Completion of initial 8-hour Emergency Response & HW (HazWopper) Operations Level training is required. Completion of the Annual 4-hour HW-Technician Level is required thereafter. Training description: Emergency communication, alarms and evacuation routes, contingency plan implementation/emergency response procedures, emergency equipment use, incident response (fire, explosion, soil & water contamination). Hazardous waste management - handling and storage rules.

May be required to operate a pallet jack and/or standup forklift, both require certification prior to authorization to operate.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Indoor/outdoor production environment involving exposure to chemicals and dust. Some tasks may be performed in Alternate Entry or true Confined Spaces. Respirators may be required for most jobs and are required for certain, very specific job duties within the class. Employee must be medically certified and receive proper fit testing and training before use. Protective equipment such as Tyvek suits, dust masks, ear protection, and gloves are provided. Forced air hoods are not required but are available for use in the grinding room upon request. These do not require medical evaluation or fit testing but do require a one time training on use and maintenance. May be required to endure long periods of standing in extremely warm environment (directly in front of heated molds).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Seeing, speaking, hearing, writing, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, holding, repetitive use of hands, twisting, squatting, bending, stooping, climbing stairs and ladders, and long periods of standing and walking on concrete floors. Regular job duties require frequent unassisted lifting of 20-50 lbs. and occasionally up to 70 lbs., lifting over 71 lbs. must be assisted.
