One of the oldest family-owned businesses in Tucson, Arizona, and largest automotive dealerships of its kind in the Western U.S., is seeking a results-oriented, hands-on Human Resources Director. The successful candidate will report directly to the President, sit on a 14-member senior management committee, and have primary responsibility for planning and administering all human resources functions for this company of more than 175 employees.
Responsibilities:
- Administer human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel; assist in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; maintain employee handbook and policies and procedures manual
- Manage recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding efforts for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, in coordination with department managers
- Oversee all aspects of employee benefit programs, including coordination with benefits providers, employee enrollment and education, and planning of health and wellness fairs
- Advise management on appropriate resolution of employee relations issues
- Provide human resources support for employees and employer in disciplinary proceedings
- Oversee safety programs and coordinate meetings and activities of the Safety Committee
- Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed
- Maintain Human Resource Information System records and compile reports from database
- Follow developments in employment law and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment matters
- Coordinate or assist with coordination and planning of company events
- Perform other HR-related functions as required and assigned by General Manager
Salary and Benefits
- Salary range of $70,000 to $90,000 depending on qualifications 3 weeks of annual paid vacation (4 weeks after 20 years); up to 48 hours annual sick leave; company-subsidized medical and dental coverage; vision, pet, and flexible spending options; 401(k) with employer match; supplemental life and short- and long-term disability; tuition reimbursement; free parking

- Minimum of 5 years human resources experience
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- SPHR or PHR certification considered a plus
- Ability to assess and manage complex employee relations matters and manage confidential employee situations and information appropriately
- Ability to recommend, design, influence, and implement change
- Knowledge of MS Office Suite and comfortable with learning other software systems; knowledge of Paylocity or similar enterprise software system would be a plus
- Ability to sort through information and resolve problems efficiently and effectively
- Ability to communicate professionally verbally and in writing
