What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Machinist (Aerospace Parts) position at Orizon Aerostructures?
Key Responsibilities:
• Read and interpret complex aerospace blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications, including GD&T.
• Set up and operate CNC machines, such as mills, lathes, and multi-axis machining centers, to produce high-tolerance aerospace parts.
• Program CNC machines using G-code or CAD/CAM software to optimize performance and ensure precision.
• Select and inspect tools, fixtures, and materials to meet aerospace standards.
• Perform in-process and final quality checks using advanced measuring tools (CMMs, micrometers, calipers, etc.).
• Ensure compliance with AS9100, FAA, and other aerospace quality and safety regulations.
• Troubleshoot machining or programming issues to maintain production efficiency.
• Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to meet project deadlines and resolve technical challenges.
• Maintain detailed records of production runs, inspections, and machine maintenance.
• Follow strict safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
Qualifications:
• Five-year Milling Machine experience preferred
• Understanding in blueprint reading and GD&T strongly preferred
• Good mechanical aptitude strongly preferred
• Experience with troubleshooting strongly preferred
• Understand AS9100 or other Quality Management Systems strongly preferred
• Must have experience using measurement tools (e.g., caliper, micrometer, height gage, etc.)
• Must be able to read G Code
• Must have broad knowledge and ability to setup and utilize tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts, and other accessories used on various machines.
• Must be able to perform machine recovery
• Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Must be able to handle and manage multiple machines
• Must have High School Diploma, GED, or able to demonstrate basic written, reading, verbal, and math skills
