What are the responsibilities and job description for the Med Office Scheduler I position at Orthopedic Center of Florida?
Essential Functions Include But Are Not Limited To
Maintain coverage of the phones between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Certification/Licensure: Not required
Skills
Requires occasional lifting up to 25 pounds unassisted. Requires frequent bending, reaching and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting.
Maintain coverage of the phones between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm
- Answer incoming calls within 1 to 2 rings 95% of the time
- Establish and maintain demographics and insurance information
- Verify insurance eligibility
- Initiate authorization/referral with primary care physician
- Complete system documentation as it pertains to meaningful use
- Schedule mutually acceptable appointment times for patients and physicians
- Complete all "tasks" and orders in a timely manner
- Facilitate timely receipt and dispatch of medical records
- Demonstrate courteous and helpfulness toward patients and their families
- Display flexibility in work schedule dependent on clinic needs
- Other duties as assigned

- Medical Terminology
- Basic typing and keyboarding skills
- Strong organizational and interpersonal sills
- Experience with customer service
- Familiarity with computers and other office equipment

- Knowledge of insurance plans and procedures
