Position Summary:
Reporting to the Development Director, the Communications and Social Media Specialist is responsible for developing and maintaining the marketing and professional communication released on behalf of the OUR Center and the Aspen Center for Child Development (“OUR and Aspen Centers”). The Communications and Social Media Specialist will promote the OUR and Aspen Centers’ brands and drive digital follower expansion, creating and distributing content in various formats across multiple channels, as well as developing print materials and website content. Part-time hours of 20-24 hours/week.

Essential Duties:
- Create, implement, and manage strategies for public relations and media/marketing campaigns to promote OUR and Aspen Centers to internal and external audiences, including key stakeholders.
- Utilize various forms of media to promote OUR and Aspen Centers and assist in operational goals.
- Develop and implement support materials for marketing, communications, and public relations.
- Maintain OUR and Aspen Centers’ websites and social media communications, including posting regular updates, responding to comments and messages, and tracking analytics to measure engagement and impact.
- Develop and deliver presentations for stakeholder groups and community outreach activities.
- Seek out and participate in media opportunities to promote OUR and Aspen Centers’ programs, including support of volunteer recruitment in collaboration with the Director of Volunteer Services, as well as employee recruitment, partnering with Human Resources.
- Establish and maintain a presence and relationships in the community with key media sources (print, video, and electronic) to expand OUR and Aspen Centers’ visibility and reputation.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to develop communication materials, including brochures, presentations, and reports, to support programmatic initiatives.
- Create compelling content for the OUR and Aspen Centers’ communications channels, including website, newsletters, press releases, and social media platforms.
- Ensure adherence to the OUR and Aspen Center Code of Ethics in all communications.
Other Duties:
- Support other team members as needed with external communication and outreach efforts.
- Analyze trends in marketing and social media that impact the OUR and Aspen Centers’ marketing efforts.
- Attend outreach events in the community to elevate and enhance visibility and understanding of the OUR and Aspen Centers, encouraging social and financial support of OUR and Aspen Centers’ mission and programs.
- Develop messaging and materials to attract new funding sources and in-kind gifts, in coordination with the Development Director.
- Identify and assist with development and maintenance of outreach activities. Collect data and issue reports on such activities, in coordination with the Development Director.
Qualifications:
Education and Training:
- Bachelor's degree in public relations, marketing, or communications required.
Experience:
- Minimum five years’ marketing and public relations experience, including media relations in the Human Services arena, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated experience in website development and maintenance.
- Experience with desktop publishing and presentation software.
- Experience in working with diverse populations of staff and volunteers and an understanding of poverty and self-sufficiency programming desired.
- Bilingual verbal and written skills (English and Spanish) desired.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Regular use of a computer.
- Light to moderate lifting.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
