Position Summary:
The Program Director for The Nurturing Young Disciples Initiative (NYDI) will be
responsible for leading the NYDI program for Our Daily Bread Ministries and its
Strategic Partners. This will include leading program design and development and
managing program details, grant funds, ensuring proper and accurate collection of data
and reporting on results for the grant funded program, researching, and providing
leadership for external partnerships and key stakeholders. Additionally, creating a “data-
rich” environment in which senior leadership and partners can actively use data to make
decisions that support outcome-based programming.
Essential Functions:
Grant Administration
1. Oversee the details related to the NYDI program.
2. Collect and organize relevant data to be used for grant tracking and reporting.
3. Lead execution of the NYDI program through the Strategic Partners and manage
those relationships.
4. Manage agreements with Supporting Partners (e.g., Effect X) and relationships
with internal stakeholders (e.g., Partnerships & Church Engagement, Media,
Publishing, Design, Marketing, and Grants).
5. Plan for successful expansion of the program with an eye toward scalability and
sustainability.
6. Research new grant funding possibilities to scale up for future success.
7. Build relationships with internal and external partners, churches, and leaders.
8. Ensure grant rules and policies are being followed.
Program Outcomes
1. Ensure the program design and implementation and planning for administering
the program and activities that support the outcome-based experience, with
specific attention to achieving the priority of the program’s success among
American churches and communities.
2. Responsible for conducting The Nurturing Young Disciples Initiative (NYDI)
including facilitating & collecting surveys/feedback, storing and timely submission
of surveys annually.
3. Provide guidance, training, and role modeling to program partners, churches, and
stakeholders.
4. Monitor and evaluate program achievement against target goals, recommending
modifications that respond to audience needs and interests.
5. Work with Publishing, Media, Marketing, and Grants on the implementation of
NYDI content and facilitation of meetings and trainings necessary for execution
of the program.
6. Regularly review data and information gathered and use data in curriculum and
content development.
Job Specifications
Job Title: Program Director
Study or Knowledge or Experience:
● Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited college/university or
equivalent experience.
● Two years of professional experience working in churches or related field.
● A minimum of five years’ work experience in development programs, preferably
ministries/churches, planning or supervising activities based on the
developmental needs of that community, preferred.
● Experience with grant writing, technical writing or writing for varying audiences,
preferred.
● Ability to communicate ideas effectively.
● Excellent organization and time management skills.
● Knowledge of program development principles and developmental
characteristics.
● Data analysis, record keeping and reporting of metrics.
● Ability to work independently.
● Contribute to the core values and principles of the ministry.
● Strong communication skills, both oral and written required.
● Strong presentation, computer skills, including Microsoft Office (PPT, Word &
Excel) required.
● Strive to live a life consistent with biblical principles, engaged with the Bible on a
consistent basis and demonstrate continued growth and spiritual development.
Internal Work Environment:
Maintain close, daily contact with leaders and staff to receive/provide information,
discuss issues, explain, or interpret guidelines/instructions; instruct, and advise/counsel.
External Communication:
Maintain contact as needed with eternal partners, churches, community groups,
denominations as well as build a strong relationship in the community.
Leadership Responsibility:
Supports overall effectiveness of ministry systems, processes, and project management
efforts. Will manage and oversee all aspects of the program (internal/external partners
and stakeholders).
Stewardship of Resources:
Ensures that the development of the NYDI program budget is accurate and thorough in
identifying the resources needed to accomplish goals and objectives.
Miscellaneous:
Moderate domestic travel is required.
