What are the responsibilities and job description for the Long Term Substitute Teacher (Maternity Leave)- Kindergarten position at Our Lady of Guadalupe School?
Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School in West Seattle seeks a highly qualified Kindergarten Teacher, for along-term sub maternity leave position beginning at the end of February 2025.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with the current kindergarten teacher to learn the routines and systems of the classroom before taking over to teach all general subjects. The long-term sub position will run from the end of February 2025- the end of the school year (mid-June 2025).

Our Kindergarten teacher teams with a classroom aide and with the other primary teachers, our School Counselor, and our Learning Support teacher to provide wrap-around instruction meeting the needs of all learners. Responsibilities include:
- Teaching and lesson planning all general subjects (math, reading, writing, phonics, science, social studies) through end of the year
- Current Teacher will be communicating units to be covered and assessed
- Giving and grading assessments at end of unit checkpoints
- Completing grades for final trimester of 2024-2025 school year in school system
- Includes filing student report cards and filling out cumulative folder for each student
- Regular communication with current kindergarten families through preferred method (current teacher can share tools that are already in place)
- Accompany kindergarten students to all school mass (about once a month) and any other daily masses
- Will be coordinating with learning specialist/religion support to determine dates
- Communicate with classroom coordinators for class parties (End of Year)
- Attending weekly staff meetings (Wednesday 2:30- 4pm).
Qualifications include:
- Ability to connect faith and Catholic Social Teaching with current issues in the classroom
- Skill in fostering curiosity, critical thinking and problem solving
- Depth of knowledge in content areas of Math, Science, Writing, Reading, Social Studies, and Religion.
- Hands-on, inquiry-based approach
- Genuine interest in and ability to connect with colleagues, primary-age students & families
- Commitment to meeting the needs of diverse learners
- Experience in using technology as a tool for teaching, learning, and communication
- Facility in incorporating the Common Core Standards throughout the content areas.
- Ability to collaborate in a team situation
Salary and benefits
Long term sub- no benefits.
- Compensation: $23.00- $27.00 /hr (8 hours a day).
- Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
- As a long-term sub position, this role is not benefit eligible.

Candidates should hold Washington state teaching credentials or the equivalent from another state. Teaching experience preferred. A preference will be given to candidates who are practicing Catholics.
