What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer Coordinator position at ourBRIDGE for KIDS?
Mission: To foster the acculturation and education of newly-arrived refugee and immigrant children and their families.
Role: Volunteer Coordinator
Reports to: Community Engagement Manager
Effective Date: Immediately
Supervises Others: No
Part Time: 20hrs/week
Hourly Rate: $20-22
The Volunteer Coordinator (VC) supports the ourBRIDGE for KIDS mission to foster the education, acculturation, and well-being of newly arrived and first-generation children and their families by recruiting, training, and supporting a robust and dynamic volunteer network. Volunteer Coordinator will work closely with the leadership team at ourBRIDGE to ensure all volunteer positions are filled and supported. The VC should be someone who is passionate about engaging with diverse communities and meaningfully involving them in ourBRIDGE’s work. The ideal candidate has successful experience in this role and demonstrates strong project management, interpersonal and communication skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead volunteer recruitment efforts
- Schedule, and Facilitate once a month evening Volunteer Orientations for new volunteers- In person
- Promote and manage available volunteer opportunities.
- Inform volunteers of policies, procedures, and standards of volunteer service.
- Regularly update records in the volunteer management system.
- Maintain a volunteer and intern program which includes record keeping, screening, and orientation.
- Ensure responsiveness to all current and potential volunteers.
- Support the acceptance, inventory, distribution, and storage of in-kind donations.
- Support Community Engagement Manager with planning and execution of ourBRIDGE community events and outreach.
- Distribute surveys to monitor and evaluate volunteers' satisfaction.
- Plan and execute ongoing volunteer appreciation efforts (Volunteer Appreciation Week and ongoing appreciation efforts. Ensure all volunteers, interns, and groups are recognized, annually or at the end of their time with ourBRIDGE.
- Support monthly newsletters to volunteers and community partners (Social Media shout outs, highlights in the newsletter).
- Work alongside the Community Engagement Manager to maintain accurate records and provide timely statistical and activity reports on volunteer participation.
- Maintain a current list of volunteering groups and community partners, categorized by type (faith-based, college-based, community-based, schools-based, individuals, etc.)
Work Environment
- Hybrid: 16 hours in person/4 hours virtual
- Ability to perform the duties outlined in the job description.
- Non-traditional working hours (morning, afternoon or evening, weekends).
- Some heavy lifting required to lift, carry, and stock donations.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various climates (heat, humidity, rain, cold).
Preferred Requirements
- Two years of relevant work experience.
- Experience using volunteer management software such as eTapestry, Better Impact or Bloomerang.
- Bilingual preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience using Google Suite, Canva, and Social Media platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with people of diverse ethnic, economic, racial, and cultural backgrounds.
Other
- Travel occasionally to off-site meetings, training, and events.
- Must have own transportation, a valid driver’s license, and vehicle insurance.
- Observe and enforce all policies, protocols, and safety procedures
- Perform other duties as needed.

This is a part-time, in-person position. The position is based in Charlotte, North Carolina
