Purpose of Position
The Workforce Development Specialist Inspires, Empowers and Enriches the lives of adults and families. The Workforce Development Specialist will successfully implement and manage program components that lead to positive outcomes for the individuals and families that we serve.
The major functions as the Workforce Development Specialist are to actively engage the communities we serve. This role requires daily interaction with community members, community leaders, community groups and other organizations with a focus on developing a network of partners that can assist the individuals and families we serve. In addition, this role involves coaching, teaching, and facilitating referrals in order to specifically focus on bridging gaps that may prevent clients from maximizing their potential. This role will involve engaging as a success coach with adult clients seeking educational and economic opportunities in order to promote goal achievement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ø Assist with the intake, assessment, and enrollment process for any new family and on annual basis.
Ø Provide case management and facilitate referrals for individuals and families in need of community resources
Ø Counsel individuals and families by using such activities as delineating alternatives, helping to articulate goals and providing needed information.
Ø Assist program team in maintaining 75% family engagement among OYC families
Ø Conduct and participate in monthly parent and/or community meetings
Ø Serve as primary advisor and success coach for working caseload of program/community participants seeking educational and/or employment assistance
Ø Prepare participants to transition into productive citizenship as needed (i.e. college and/or career)
Ø Provide ongoing advisement to each participant until participant has successfully achieved desired results
Ø Assist with employment hiring requirements (application, resume, WIOA)
Ø Develop and implement communication strategies for promoting opportunities
Ø Develop, coordinate, and/or facilitate curricula, workshops and special projects as it relates to financial stability, career success, and other topics.
Ø Assist in the implementation/execution of economic initiatives
Ø Coordinate with affiliate departments to achieve program recruitment and retention goals
Ø Assist with the development and execution of orientation/program manuals/materials
Ø Monitor and document participant’s progress (e.g., via case notes, client success plans, attendance, job placements, referrals/linkages)
Ø Conduct home visits as needed
Ø Research/identify community resources available to support client needs
Ø Work collaboratively with community partners
Ø Report accurate data monthly (or as indicated) to Director of Family Services
Ø Assist in grant reporting requirements
Ø Other duties as assigned by Direct Supervisor

Requirements/Education/Experience:
High school diploma
Bi-lingual (Creole/Spanish) required
Intermediate computer skills / Microsoft Office / Ability to learn web-based data systems
A minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience working with adults/ youth programs required
Experience in community outreach
Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Must pass background/drug test screening
