Essential Job Functions
- Balance currency, coin, and checks in cash drawers at end of shifts, and calculate daily transactions using computers, calculators, or adding machines.
- Cash checks and pay out money after verifying that signatures are correct, that written and numerical amounts agree, and that accounts have sufficient funds.
- Receive checks and cash for deposit, verify amounts, and check accuracy of deposit slips.
- Examine checks for endorsements and to verify other information such as dates, bank names, identification of the persons receiving payments and the legality of the documents.
- Issue cashier checks, teller checks and money orders to customers.
- Enter customers' transactions into computers to record transactions and issue computer-generated receipts.
- Count currency, coins, and checks received, by hand or using currency-counting machine, to prepare them for deposit or shipment to branch banks or the Federal Reserve Bank.
- Identify transaction mistakes when debits and credits do not balance.
- Arrange monies received in cash boxes and coin dispensers according to denomination.
- Receive mortgage or loan payments, verifying payment dates and amounts due.
- Resolve problems or discrepancies concerning customers' accounts.
- Explain, promote, or sell products or services such as money orders and cashier's checks.
- Assist with ATM functions when needed, such as counting cash, filling canisters and balancing ATM totals for all locations. Perform research to locate any errors when needed.
- Assist with night deposit functions and payments received by mail.
- Assist with the counting of delivered cash.
- Credit and balance the ATM general ledger when deposits are made via ATM.
- Post interest earned from Certificates of Deposit owned by OFSL at other financial institutions.
- Complete branch capture daily of all checks processed that business day for receipt by core processor.
- Assist both lobby and drive-thru customers.
- Back-up new accounts position.
- Travel to branch locations to cover vacancies when needed.
- Ensure teller area is properly stocked and maintained.
- Order a supply of cash to meet daily needs.
Education:
Associate's Degree (or other 2-year degree)
High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
