What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at Pacific Allied Products Ltd.?
POSITION SUMMARY:Troubleshoots and repair injection, blow molding and co-packaging (water filling) machinery and its auxiliaries. Perform preventative maintenance (PM) and changeovers on facility machinery while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools; including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
- Maintain records of the parts and materials used for repairs and maintenance assignments.
- Request requisition of new parts and materials as necessary.
- Analyze test results, machine error messages, and information obtained from operators to diagnose equipment problems and fix the machines adequately.
- Clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment and machinery as needed.
- Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
- Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear.
- Repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery and equipment.
- Use voltmeters, watching gauges, dials or other indicators devices to diagnose malfunctions of operating machines and equipment.
- Reassemble equipment after completing inspections, testing or repairs.
- Operate newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
- Repair and maintain the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery and equipment.
- Studies blueprints and manufacturers' manuals to determine correct installation, repair and operation of machinery.
- Has general knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, and procedures related to the water line.
- Posses Knowledge of circuit boards, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and intimate knowledge of PLC programming and VFD programming and operation.
- Update machinery preventive maintenance (frequency and tasks).
- Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job.
- Maintain and secure work tools.
- Clean and maintain work area.
- Must follow GMP, safety and operations Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
OTHER FUNCTIONS: Other duties as assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS: Indoors under regular warehouse and manufacturing plant conditions. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and some hazardous conditions.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND COMMUNICATION DEMANDS: Staying mentally alert, while working with heavy duty manufacturing machinery. Requires a high degree of problem solving and verbal communication skills. Also the ability to follow operation plans and safety procedures.
Some jobs require the employee to be exposed to toxic substances, dangerous heights, electrical shock, flammable fluids, and machinery. The job duties require an employee to bend, reach, kneel, and stand for extended periods. The job duties require an employee to climb ladders and move heavy objects. Machinery and tool operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, lockout / tag out, and non slippery /steel toe shoes. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: At least five years experience as an industrial maintenance mechanic. Advanced skills required in the following areas: troubleshooting, filler / capper / labeling, Reverse Osmosis, Siemens PLC, high pressure air experience, 480V, 3 phase electrical repairs and electrical repairs, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or GED required. 2- 4 Industrial, Electrical or Mechanical degree preferred. Basic computer skills and the ability to enter codes and instructions to program computer-controlled machinery.
