General Description: This position is within a high-volume accounting department processing daily receiving material, payables invoices, and purchase order information. The Accounts Payable Representative processes daily receiving material, payables invoices, and purchase order information. On a weekly basis, this position will process and print checks to be paid to vendors. This position is responsible for working with buyers and vendors to resolve payment issues.
What you'll do...
- Process incoming invoices from fax, mail, or email. This includes comparing them to purchase orders and forwarding them to buyers for payment approval.
- Input approved invoices and check requests into accounting software for payment processing.
- Once a week, process payables checks and necessary reports. This includes printing and mailing the checks.
- Develop and maintain sound business relations with vendors. This includes handling requests from vendors, buyers, and employees in regard to payables issues.
- Enter and maintain vendor information within accounting software.
- Keep and maintain vendor payment files.
- Assist in order accounting and clerical jobs, as needed.
What we're looking for...
- 2 years of accounts payable experience.
- High School diploma or GED. College degree preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of PC and MS Office (with emphasis on Excel).
- Knowledge of automated accounting software.
- Knowledge of current credit laws is mandatory.
- Attention to detail.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
