Wage Range $65,000 - $85,000 / yr DOE

We're seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our Sales team and drive strategic growth in the medical simulation and surgical training industry.

Role Overview

As the Business Development Manager, you will spearhead efforts to identify new business opportunities, foster partnerships, and expand existing accounts. You'll collaborate across teams to develop strategies that enhance Sawbones' market presence, revenue streams, and customer satisfaction. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to shape the company's future and create long-term value for our partners and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning and Market Expansion
  • Develop and execute business development strategies aligned with Sawbones' mission and long-term goals.
  • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and growth opportunities.
  • Analyze competitor activities and industry data to inform strategic decisions.
  • Partnership and Relationship Building
  • Establish and nurture strategic partnerships with medical institutions, healthcare organizations, and educational institutions.
  • Negotiate and finalize agreements to expand the distribution and adoption of Sawbones products and services.
  • Serve as the primary contact for high-value clients, ensuring their needs are addressed promptly.
  • New Product Development and Launch
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Marketing teams to develop and launch innovative products that meet evolving customer demands.
  • Define pricing strategies for new products, considering market positioning and competitive dynamics.
  • Track product performance post-launch, incorporating feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Sales and Revenue Growth
  • Partner with the Sales team to set ambitious targets and implement strategies to achieve them.
  • Monitor sales performance and provide actionable insights to optimize revenue generation.
  • Utilize data-driven approaches to anticipate customer ordering trends and support forecasting.
  • Provide quarterly and year-end reports to senior leadership team.
  • Customer Experience Excellence
  • Engage with clients to understand their unique challenges and propose tailored solutions.
  • Align Sawbones offerings with customer goals through proactive consultation and needs assessment.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure an exceptional customer experience from start to finish.
  • Market Knowledge and Training Expertise
  • Stay informed on the latest industry training methods, trends, and competitive landscape.
  • Provide insights on customer workshops, class schedules, and opportunities to enhance product support.
  • Offer recommendations to refine products based on customer feedback and workshop outcomes.
  • Operational and Financial Oversight
  • Manage budgets and conduct financial analysis to ensure the cost-effectiveness of business development initiatives.
  • Maintain comprehensive customer intelligence and product libraries, including training materials, white papers, and briefs.
  • Leverage CRM tools to track sales activity, customer interactions, and key account details.
  • Team Collaboration and Leadership
  • Work closely with Customer Service, Engineering, and Product Development teams to foster a collaborative culture.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, cultivating a results-driven, innovative environment.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in business development and sales. Prefer role within the orthopedic healthcare industry.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strategic partnerships.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market trends and data.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Self-motivated, innovative, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
