What are the responsibilities and job description for the FWS - Circulation Library Assistant position at Pacific University?
This position is only open to current Pacific University Students
This is an in-person front desk customer service position. Duties include staffing the Library Help Desk, answering the library main phone line; shelving books and other library materials; finding materials to send to other libraries, processing materials returning from other libraries, and checking materials in/out. Also, helping students, staff, faculty and community members find materials on the shelves, and on the library website, searching for misplaced items, answering questions and giving directions. Depending on shifts worked, you may assist with opening and/or closing the library. Occasional duties may include shifting materials, putting together book displays, basic troubleshooting of library technology (printers, wifi, scanners, copiers), and designing/creating fun buttons. Physical tasks will include pushing heavy book carts, reading, stooping, and repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and arms.
Please include detailed work availability with your application. Tran Library is open 7 days per week, early morning to late evening. Some early morning, late evening, and/or weekend availability, in addition to mid-day availability is very helpful.
Length of employment: Full academic year position. January is optional.
Wage rate: $15.95
