What are the responsibilities and job description for the NWS - Early Learning Community Beforecare Assistant position at Pacific University?
The Early Leaning Community, a campus-based early childhood learning environment for children age three through grade 4, seeks classroom assistants to work as part of the teaching team for the beforecare program, weekdays from approximately 7:00-9:00 am.
In cooperation with and under the guidance of ELC Teachers, assist in the supervision, care, and constructive play of children attending the ELC, and complete light housekeeping tasks in the school related to service of snack, dishwashing, laundry and general clean up from the school day.
Monday through Friday, 7:00 to 9:00 AM. We seek two or more individuals to share the week, allowing flexibility for the employees and back-up for the ELC. So while this can be one person, it need not be one person who can do all 5 days of the week.
Desired experience and aspirations
Child care experience, coursework in child development, interest in early childhood/elementary education as a career path
Required qualifications and certification
Demonstrated responsibility and accountability as a student and community member. Individuals who are 18 years and older must enroll in the State of Oregon Central Background Registry.
Needed skills and attributes
Reliability, good communication skills, receptivity to guidance and direction of supervising teacher, playful approach to working with children combined with a strong sense of responsibility and ability to pay serious attention to the safety of the environment and activities of the children
