This pivotal role involves preparing monthly progress reports, coordinating with cost, schedule, and contract leads, and ensuring all project documentation aligns with schedule and budget requirements. The selected individual will develop and maintain robust project controls, produce detailed data analyses and presentations, and help ensure all critical milestones and deliverables are met. This is a hybrid opportunity, requiring 2–3 days on-site per week (subject to client requirements). The ideal candidate will have extensive experience on large-scale infrastructure projects—particularly in aviation—along with a proven track record of working independently to meet challenging deadlines. This position offers the chance to be part of a high-profile initiative that will enhance a critical component of LaGuardia Airport’s infrastructure.
Job Description
- Monthly & Ad Hoc Reporting: Prepare progress reports in collaboration with project task leaders, providing clear updates on schedule, budget, and construction cost.
- Project Controls Support: Assist discipline leads with scheduling, cost, and contract management activities. Review construction schedules for compliance with project documents, support in the preparation of CPM schedules, and aid in evaluating contractor performance.
- Payment & Cost Estimating: Support review of contractor progress payment requests (monthly basis), assist with cost estimating, and help manage pay requests and change orders.
- Document Control & Coordination: Contribute to document control efforts, correlating and organizing project data. Collaborate with the project change order management group to ensure that documentation is maintained accurately.
- Issue Resolution: Assist in resolving project issues and in preparing claims documentation as needed.
- Reporting Structure: Report to the Program Controls Manager, providing ongoing updates on tasks and deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Prepare Reports: Develop detailed monthly progress reports and ad hoc reporting to capture scheduling, budgeting, and cost insights.
- Plan Review & Scheduling: Research project documentation (including plan sets) to determine milestones, sequencing, and as-built scheduling.
- Contractor Assessment: Provide insights on contractor performance for both near- and long-term planning, and help assign WBS codes to contractor activities.
- Documentation & Claims: Read project diaries, maintain organized record-keeping, and aid in claims documentation when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business (4 years of related experience preferred).
- Experience: 4–7 years of relevant work experience, ideally in project controls or civil construction.
- Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to work effectively in a team environment.
- Technical Skills: Beginner to intermediate Primavera P6 proficiency, with SAP or ICMS experience a plus.
- Location: Must be willing to work on a hybrid schedule at LaGuardia Airport, NYC.
Preferred/Additional Requirements
- Civil Construction Background: Familiarity with infrastructure, aviation, or similar large-scale public agency projects.
- Port Authority Experience: Previous exposure to Port Authority processes and standards is highly preferred.
- Software Tools: Experience with budgeting, scheduling, and document control software (e.g., SAP, ICMS) is a plus.
