What are the responsibilities and job description for the Education Manager - 911 Communications position at Pafford Emergency Medical Services?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create and manage a comprehensive training program for current and future employees/new hires
- Create and manage a comprehensive Quality Assurance and Improvement program
- Manage and coordinate all IAED courses and classes for the Communications division
- Provide continuing education to communications employees
- Provide remedial education at the request of communications manager
- Develop and maintain the Call taker training Officer Program
- Revise all current standard operating guidelines
- Revise the policy and procedure book for each dispatch console
- Standardize our performance reviews and improvements
- Schedule and coordinate the all initial and continuing education for ALL communication employees (Ridgeland and Gulfport)
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in dispatch leadership role
- Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in dispatch education role
- Hold a current Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification 3 (EMD)
- Hold a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Course Certification (CPR)
- Hold a current Emergency Medical Dispatcher – Quality (EMD-Q)
- Hold a current Certified Training Officer (CTO)
- Be proficient in word, excel, and other computer software
Physical Requirements:
Hearing and Speech:
- Ability to hear and understand information over the phone, radio, and in person, often in noisy or stressful environments.
- Clear speech to communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and emergency personnel.
Visual Requirements:
- Sufficient visual acuity to read computer screens, maps, charts, and written documents.
- Ability to monitor multiple screens simultaneously in a dispatch environment.
Dexterity:
- Proficient use of hands and fingers for typing, handling multiple computer systems, and operating communication equipment.
Sitting/Standing:
- Ability to sit for extended periods (e.g., during dispatch operations or meetings) and occasionally stand or move around the facility.
Mental and Physical Stamina:
- Capability to remain alert and focused for long durations, especially during high-stress or emergency situations.
- Maintain composure and critical decision-making under pressure.
Mobility:
- Ability to move around the communications center to coordinate with team members, access equipment, or attend meetings.
Lifting and Carrying:
- Occasional lifting or carrying of items weighing up to 20 pounds (e.g., files, office supplies, or small equipment).
Environment Adaptability:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure, and sometimes noisy environment.
Emergency Situations:
- Be physically and mentally capable of responding to critical incidents, including extended work hours or irregular schedules when needed.
