DIRECTOR OF PAYROLL
POSITION PROFILE
The Director of Payroll will be responsible for the management of the payroll team as well as being a resource for the Operations and Human Resources teams regarding any payroll processes and payroll training. They will also be the point of contact for ADP implementation projects, legal audits, and compliance management for all property locations across platform. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Finance.

THE TASK AT HAND:
- Directs all aspects of payroll processing for company employees who are located at various locations.
- Designs short and long-term strategies for continuous improvements in the Company’s payroll operations.
- Leads the payroll team with an emphasis on developing team members, establishing objectives and overseeing work efforts to accomplish identified business goals/objectives and to support the employees’ career success/development.
- Work with third party legal advisors to ensure the company is staying abreast of regulatory and compliance payroll changes.
- Work and liaise with Human Resources to continuously ensure compliance with payroll processing.
- Perform regular payroll audits and develop strategies to mitigate any payroll risk.
- Manages relationships with both internal and external customers, including but not limited to, Field General Managers, Vice Presidents of Operations, Finance, external auditors, and state and federal agencies.
- Establishes and maintains department goals through the creation and monitoring of reports and key performance indicators.
Job Knowledge, Skill, And Ability Preferences
- Thorough understanding of all aspects of payroll processing and experience with ADP Workforce Now
- In-depth knowledge of all California and other state and federal regulations
- Prior payroll data analysis and reporting experience. Analysis and deductive reasoning skills
- Knowledge of accounting & financial payroll terms and analysis
- Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Strong analytical/problem solving and process management skills.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and 10 years related HR/payroll experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Four to six years prior supervisory experience
- Must have hotel or restaurant multiunit payroll experience.
- Must have experience with tips, gratuities and tip pooling in regards to APD set up and state/states compliance.
Certificates/Licenses
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or ADP Certified Product Specialist preferred.
