About the Position:
This is a part-time professional graphic design and public relations/marketing position focused on developing creative content that promotes the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department’s parks and services. The role blends art and technology to communicate ideas visually through illustrations, photos, videos and other design elements. In addition to creating and publishing printed and electronic materials, the position may involve writing and editing content, preparing layouts and participating in outreach events. Direction and supervision may come from multiple team members based on the nature of each project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and publish marketing materials (brochures, press releases, social media posts) to promote parks and services.
- Write and edit content for various publications, including newsletters, reports and outreach materials.
- Develop layouts using a combination of text, images and video to effectively communicate the department’s mission.
- Participate in the planning, setup and breakdown of exhibits at outreach events.
- Collaborate with the team to identify topics and themes for marketing materials.
- Ensure that all materials align with the department’s branding guidelines and messaging.
- Edit and proofread documents for clarity, accuracy and consistency.
Qualifications:
- Experience with graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.) and video editing tools.
- Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to combine text, images and design elements to create cohesive and visually appealing content.
- Experience in public engagement or event planning is a plus.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision and collaboratively within a team.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
