Job Summary:
The Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations within the club's shop, managing front desk staff, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring that the shop environment reflects the club's high standards. This role requires strong leadership skills, clear and concise communication abilities, and the capacity to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
The position plays a key role in shaping the overall experience for our members, guests, and staff. The ideal candidate will not only manage day-to-day operations efficiently but will also collaborate with the management team and staff to elevate our standards. Essential Job Functions:
- Supervise and manage the daily operations of the shop, including operational standards, customer service, sales, and inventory control.
- Lead, train, and mentor a team of shop associates, ensuring that all staff are knowledgeable and provide exceptional service.
- Address any customer inquiries, complaints, or concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Order and maintain office supplies for the department.
- Oversee all event communications, and reservations for corporate groups and other reservation entities.
- Cover front desk shifts as needed and actively assist in the shop during busy periods, providing hands-on support to ensure smooth operations.
- Keep up-to-date information regarding play schedules, clinic/lesson schedules, pricing, and events.
- Manage event setup, including mixers, round robins, league play, and special events within the department.
- Take reservations for members and guests, and assign courts as needed.
- Process transactions, including lessons, clinics, guest fees, sales, and returns, using the point-of-sale system accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain current policies and procedures specific to the shop operations.
- Process expense reports and closing reports in accordance with current standards.
- Maintain the organization of the shop merchandise, adjust displays, stock, and rotate stock.
- Assist in physical inventory counts as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the shop, ensuring it is presentable at all times.
- Assist customers in sales and selection of merchandise.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to greet guests and members in a friendly, gracious, and cordial manner.
- Retail experience preferred. Strong proficiency in computer-based reservations, calendar, and POS transactions.
- Hospitality experience in a resort or club environment preferred.
- Working knowledge of tennis, pickleball, croquet, and bocce preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, fluency in English.
Physical Requirements:
- Work tasks are performed both indoors and outdoors.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach different outlets and other departments on a timely basis.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing ability and visual acuity.
- Talking and listening occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and subordinates.
- Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
- Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, photocopiers, dolly, and other office equipment as needed.
