We are seeking a versatile and dedicated Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team, with responsibilities spanning both front and back office duties at Palo Verde Hospital Community Clinic. Front Office Responsibilities:
Patient Reception:
Greet patients in a friendly and professional manner.
Verify patient information, insurance details, and update records as necessary.
Schedule appointments and manage the clinic's appointment calendar.
Administrative Support:
Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and provide information to patients.
Process patient registration, ensuring accuracy and completeness of forms.
Handle billing inquiries, verify insurance coverage, and process payments.
Appointment Coordination:
Coordinate and confirm patient appointments.
Manage the check-in and check-out process, ensuring a smooth flow of patients.
Communicate with medical staff to facilitate timely patient care.
Record Keeping:
Maintain organized and up-to-date patient records.
Input and update patient data in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
Assist with filing, scanning, and other clerical tasks.
Back Office Responsibilities:
Clinical Support:
Prepare examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and stocking necessary supplies.
Record patient medical histories, vital signs, and other relevant information.
Assist healthcare providers during examinations and medical procedures.
Laboratory and Diagnostic Testing:
Collect and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
Perform basic laboratory tests and record results accurately.
Coordinate diagnostic procedures and follow up on results.
Medication Management:
Administer medications and vaccines as directed by healthcare professionals.
Educate patients on medication instructions and potential side effects.
Maintain an accurate inventory of medications and supplies.
Patient Education:
Provide patients with information on treatment plans, procedures, and post-care instructions.
Answer patient questions and address concerns regarding their healthcare.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) required
Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Previous experience in both front and back office duties in a clinical setting is highly desirable.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions: This is a full-time position with regular clinic hours, and occasional evenings or weekends may be required. The role involves standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 pounds. The Medical Assistant will work closely with patients, healthcare providers, and performs a variety of duties that are required to complete clinical medical assistant and clerical tasks, including preparing patients for examinations, assisting the Nurse Practitioner or Physician during examinations, calling in prescriptions to pharmacies, collecting laboratory specimens, calling in referrals, scheduling and registration of patients, answering phones and other duties as required.
