- Coordinates work between Payroll and Human Resources to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely processing of all payroll-related functions. This includes reviewing payroll calculations and duties related to onboarding, offboarding, and job reassignments.
- Coordinates work between Payroll and outside vendors as needed to provide and support payroll and benefit-related functions, including Open Enrollment, Flex Spending Plans, 403b and 457 retirement plans, and other District provided benefits.
- Responsible for coordinating with Human Resources in projecting, preparing, and reviewing earning adjustments for all employees annually and as needed.
- Reviews a variety of rules, policies, and procedures in order to establish and maintain compliance with payroll regulations, including statutory taxes and retirement benefits.
- Conducts studies in the areas of payroll, leave law, retirement, and other statutory benefits.
- Interprets federal, State, and District program and fiscal guidelines to administrators, staff personnel, community groups, and the public.
- Participates in the development of goals and objectives for assigned area(s); makes recommendations for changes and improvements; implements approved changes and monitors work activities to ensure compliance with established guidelines; supports professional learning; monitors and adjusts workflow and assignments to meet established timelines.
- Attends workshops, meetings, and other gatherings related to assigned areas to obtain up-to-date information to assist in the efficient operation of the department.
- Prepares, trains, and provides direction to sites and departments to ensure comprehension of procedures and processes related to assigned duties.

The Payroll Coordinator, under the direct supervision of the Director of Budgeting and Accounting, is responsible for the planning, coordination, and directing of all functions necessary for the successful and accurate operation of position control/payroll functions. This position performs lead responsibilities for software applications used in payroll, employee maintenance, absence tracking, position control, and benefits management. The Payroll Coordinator also ensures that all state and federal reporting is completed in a timely and accurate manner, and coordinates payroll processing activities and operations with the county office and county auditor.

Salary range (9) $108,631 to $131,692 per year, eight (9) steps, eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week (M-F), 12 months per year. Holidays, sick leave and vacation benefits. Prepaid family dental, medical, and vision insurance, prepaid life insurance plan for employee only.
