Overview
The Human Resources and Safety Manager reports to the CFO. The person in this role serves as the day-to-day connection between staff and their human resources needs. This position is critical to building a work environment that is positive, supportive, and focused on the welfare of all employees. The Human Resources and Safety Manager is the first line of customer service helping employees with onboarding, benefits adjustments, and other human resources items that come up. Working closely with managers in the manufacturing and distribution facilities, they are also responsible for managing the company’s safety training and injury response programs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Works with the Operations Leadership Team to develop and implement safety training plans
- Leads and fosters a collaborative team environment where employees and supervisors work together to educate staff on safety best practices and procedures, proactively identify and address potential safety hazards, and ensure consistent adherence to all safety guidelines and regulations.
- Collaborates with the company's Workers' Compensation Broker to identify and implement strategies for reducing workers' compensation risks and costs, leveraging industry best practices and analyzing loss run reports.
- Maintains and updates the company's Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) to ensure its effective implementation and ongoing relevance across all departments.
- Supports employees with workplace injuries by guiding treatment, ensuring OSHA reporting, and advising supervisors on return-to-work.
- Leads the development and communication of HR policies and procedures and provides clear direction to staff and managers on navigating and resolving HR-related issues.
- Proactively monitors and analyzes new labor laws to ensure company-wide compliance, collaborating with the CFO to recommend and implement necessary adjustments.
- Manages all aspects of employee benefits, including administering probationary periods, overseeing benefit enrollment and changes, managing benefit rates and plan options, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Oversees all aspects of employee leave of absence administration, including : FMLA, medical leave, personal leave, and other leave programs. Ensures accurate record-keeping and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Oversees all payroll changes, including new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and other relevant changes. Ensures accurate and timely payroll processing and compliance with all applicable tax and wage laws.
- Facilitates recruitment and onboarding by guiding managers through company procedures, posting job openings, preparing onboarding materials, assisting with policy reviews for new hires, explaining benefits programs, and establishing employee files.
- Handles staff offboarding and terminations by completing required paperwork and assisting with exit interviews.
- Reviews labor-related sections of new project contract and prepares required due diligence documentation.
- Performs other duties as assigned

This is a full-time, in-office position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week on-site. Remote or hybrid work arrangements are not available for this role.
