Lower School Part-Time Teaching Position for Fall 2025
THE POSITION
The Park School of Baltimore seeks a part-time visual arts faculty member to teach primary level students for fall 2025. The position will design and teach a well-rounded curriculum that includes painting, drawing, printmaking, fiber, and ceramics in a well-equipped dedicated art room. The art room shares a kiln and storage room with another Lower School art room. Depending on the needs of the program, this is a 0.4-0.6 FTE time position, and includes a close partnership with one other Lower School visual arts teacher.

All art courses include formal and informal assessments and written reports. Within the part-time schedule and in addition to direct teaching responsibilities, the faculty member will share in covering routine duties, and attend weekly faculty meetings and other meetings as needed. The Lower School art teacher participates in the life of Park’s Lower School as well as a coordinated Pre-K-12 arts department.
Park’s art courses emphasize the process of making art, including design thinking and the studio habits of mind. All art classes at Park include critique, self-assessment, and exhibition opportunities. Park’s art department is designed to align our Pre-K-12 program in a cohesive way. Conversations across divisions are frequent and valued.
QUALIFICATIONS
- B.A. or M.A.T. in Art Education, Early Childhood education, or related field
- Orientation to progressive philosophy and teaching methods
- Demonstrated interest in curriculum development, assessment, and differentiated instruction
- Teaching or related experience at the Lower School level preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work with students and materials in a safe manner
- Strong interpersonal skills needed to work collaboratively with other faculty and administrators
- Energy and imagination
- An understanding of how one creates a warm, nurturing, and supportive classroom for young children
- Passion for instilling in children a lifelong love of learning
- Candidates from diverse backgrounds and / or who have experience in cultural competency work are strongly encouraged to apply
SALARY
Park’s job requirements differ, with some positions requiring no experience, while others require years of expertise. Our salary range is from $51,500 to $82,500 and is based on factors such as years of experience, qualifications, full-or part-time status, and schedule. If selected for the role, your salary will be determined by your experience and qualifications. Salaries do not include benefits that are described below.
