Partnership is seeking a determined, passionate individual to join our team of crisis advocates. This role collaborates with crisis center and shelter staff to ensure our clients gain access to the resources they need. The Weekend Crisis Advocate helps guarantee that our services for survivors are available 24/7.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Must be able to work weekends
- Ability to empathize and build rapport with clients
- Strong organization skills
- Broad awareness of relevant community resources
Preferred But Not Required:
- An Associate's degree in a related field (social work, psychology, etc.)
- One (1) year of experience in social services
Essential Job Duties:
- Responds to callers in crisis by answering the Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault and LAP hotlines.
- Completes a phone assessment of the caller’s need and provides them with information and referral, crisis counseling, safety planning and any additional information requested by the caller.
- Responds to walk-ins by providing a face-to-face assessment of the person’s needs and then making the appropriate referral for service.
- Completes Shelter and Rape Crisis intakes and ensures clients are comfortable. Advises clients of their rights, responsibilities, and services available to them.
- Attends staff meetings and training sessions and specifically is trained on Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault hotline.
- Performs various types of data entry including the handling of confidential client information.
