Construction Estimator

Responsibilities

• Thoroughly review and evaluate key construction documents, such as plans, blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications.
• Identify potential suppliers/subcontractors and solicit multiple bids to cover each required work scope.
• Prepare material take-offs to determine or validate cost estimates.
• Vet potential vendors, suppliers, and contractors to ensure suitability for the project and negotiate the best possible pricing.
• Review bids for completeness and assemble a complete estimate of the probable cost of materials, labor, equipment, and other costs necessary to complete the project to meet the client’s needs.
• Communicate with clients, architects and engineers to fully understand the desired end product.
• Use past experience and professional judgment in conjunction with plans and specifications to determine the most suitable vendors, contractors, methods, and materials for every project.
• In all meetings, conversations, and correspondence, act with integrity and positively represent Jaco to prospective clients and vendors.

Qualifications

• Construction Management/Science or similar degree with three years of relevant construction experience.
• Solid practical understanding of construction methods, materials, building processes, and regulations.
• Ability to read, interpret, and analyze construction drawings and specifications.
• Ability to create estimates from a conceptual plan.
• Proficiency in construction estimating, bidding, and take-off platforms such as Building Connected, On-Screen Takeoff or Bluebeam.
• Proficiency with ProCore project management platform preferred, but not required.
• Strong math and analytical skills.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-moving environment.
