A global sourcing company based in Illinois is seeking a Commercial Sales Representative to join its U.S. team.
This position is responsible for marketing, promoting, and profitably selling metal, plastic, and rubber fastening components and services to both existing and potential customers, ensuring alignment with the customer’s requirements.
The role also involves representing the company in supplier-related matters, including sourcing new products, negotiating pricing, and managing the procurement of products from suppliers.
The ideal candidate will have over three years of sales experience at a fastener distributor serving the construction, general industrial, or agricultural sectors, excluding the automotive industry.
This role can be performed remotely, but the preferred candidate's location is Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, or Missouri.
You must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time.
Job Description:
Sales personnel are involved in all aspects of the sales of product which include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Establish contacts with existing customers, identify new opportunities and follow up on potential leads.
2. Utilize all available resources to reach out to prospects and turn those prospects into customers.
3. Monitor industry trends to identify emerging markets and work with management to develop plans to successfully enter those markets.
4. Collaborate with the management team to develop and improve marketing materials to expand the company’s presence in their intended market.
5. If required, attend industry trade shows to develop new leads and maintain productive contact with existing customers.
6. Source product based on information received from the Sales Department which can include but is not limited to the customer's request for quotation, the customer's requirement portfolio and verbal communication of information from the Sales Department.
7. Expanding product knowledge to assist in negotiating reasonable pricing, suggest cost saving ideas to customers and suppliers and to have a better understanding of the product being purchased.
8. Issuing Special Notice Forms to advise all Departments of new product being purchased or of changes to the requirements or purchasing of current product. To help with the monitoring of the control of such product to ensure that all Departments have the requirements to handle the product in accordance with the Purchasing Department's intent.
9. Working with suppliers to determine "breakpoint" scheduling according to information from the Sales Department and customer. Working with suppliers to reduce the amount of obsolete stock during engineering changes or part cancellations. Issuing Special Notice Forms when engineering changes take place to inform all personnel.
10. Work with Purchasing to disposition dead stock
11. Expand knowledge of the company’s subcontractors which may include, but is not limited to, visiting the subcontractor, reading literature on the subcontractor or communication with the subcontractor on a wide range of issues. Initiate cost-down projects with subcontractors.
12. Ensure good communication within all departments of the company. To work with each Department to ensure the flow of information between Departments is smooth and consistent.
13. Furnish appropriate data for successful APQP activity for product launch.
14. Acceptance of additional responsibilities not outlined in this job description as stipulated by the management staff.
15. Travel as required to achieve all sales department objectives.
16. Manage customer account activities and communication through direct customer interface (on-site), on-line supplier portal (when required) or, other means, as applicable (phone, email, etc.).
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Sales experience of Industrial Fastener is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field. Additional education or experience, particularly related to Sales.
- Have a strong understanding of computers and how they are utilized in a Sales environment;
- Be capable of working on one's own to achieve Sales, Divisional and Corporate goals in a timely and efficient manner;
- Have command of all documented policies and procedures, particularly those that relate directly to the Sales Department;
- Have the ability to effectively coordinate many different tasks simultaneously while maintaining conformance to the quality system;
- Possess excellent communication skills, written and oral;
- Have the ability to continuously expand one’s knowledge to understand/accept and pursue new procedures, practices, and policies to meet the changing needs/expectations of the industry and/or customer.
