1) Job Summary

This position is primarily responsible for performing general human resources duties for the Company. Job duties include handling office administrative duties as assigned. This position is also responsible for providing day-to-day guidance and instructions to Human Resources Associates.

2) Essential Job Functions

1. Performs general HR related duties - By processing full-cycle HR Generalist duties, including (but not limited to) recruiting, onboarding, accurately processing payroll and benefits administration, recordkeeping, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, managing vendors and partners, handling employee relations, overseeing performance management and improvement, and facilitating offboarding. By effectively communicating with management and employees, understanding their needs and requirements, and serving as a bridge between stakeholders as HRBP.

2. Vendor relations and managements – by understanding existing relationships and improve relationships with vendors such as travel agencies, building management, IT / Phone vendors, and other potential companies or individuals.

3. Implements and improves HR policies and programs - by administering HR policies and programs; by identifying problems with existing procedures; and by providing management with recommendations for improvement.

4. Performs HR related administrative duties - by maintaining and filing HR related documents in an appropriate manner; and by performing other HR related administrative duties as assigned.

5. Provides day-to-day guidance and instructions to the HR Administrator(s) and the Associate(s) - by reviewing work executed by the HR Administrator(s) and the Associate(s); by reviewing the progress of projects; by keeping abreast of the progress of the project in collaboration with the division manager; by providing support in improving the HR Administrator(s)' and the Associate(s)' techniques; and by answering questions from the HR Administrator(s) and the Associate(s).

6. Communicates with Supervisor - by reporting the progress of the HR projects for each assigned client; by reporting updates, arising issues and prospects of projects; by receiving feedback and acting on the feedback; and by seeking advice for any job related issue; by reporting improvements and concerns regarding the junior level division staff; and by reporting all irregular issues and problems to management for solution.

7. Performs special projects and other miscellaneous duties - by taking an initiative in accordance with the corporate objectives; and by performing tasks / Client projects assigned by manager and other senior management.

8. Complies with company policies, rules and procedures - by reading, understanding, and abiding by the employee handbook and other company policies; by cooperating with the company's administrative requests; by following procedures as set by the company; and by providing assistance creating or updating procedural manuals.

9. Administrative & recordkeeping activities – Accurately report and maintain up-to-date records of hours spent on services and projects in timekeeping systems for project billing and resource management purposes. Utilize tools and systems to administer necessary reporting and tracking required for services and HR.

7. Judgment – Able to develop courses of action and making sound and mature business decisions based on factual information, logic, experience and intuition.

8. Leadership - Able to make and communicate difficult decisions and to coordinate and unify groups of people to achieve a desired business objective.

9. Customer Service –manages difficult client / customer situations, responds promptly to customer needs, solicits customer feedback to improve service, responds to requests for service and assistance and meets commitments.

10. Human Resources Management - Able to manage the day-to-day operations of some or all human resource practice areas : employee relations; employment; administration; benefits and compensation; and / or training.

11. Quality Control – demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, monitors own work to ensure quality and applies feedback to improve performance.

12. Quantity – meets productivity standards and completes work in a timely manner.

4) Physical Requirements

  • Physical demands : While performing duties of job, employee is occasionally required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment : The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

5) Minimum Qualifications

1. Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • At least two to five years of human resources or related experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of human resources and employment law.
  • 2. Language Skills

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate professionally in English.
  • Ability to communicate in Japanese strongly desired, but not required.
  • 3. Other Skills

  • Ability to use the computer and such applications as Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work effectively on a team.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects.
  • 4. Other Requirements

  • May be required to travel by car and plane.
  • Salary : $65,000-85,000 (Base Salary) Profit Sharing
  • Location : Torrance, CA
  • Work Hour : 9 : 00am -6 : 00pm (3 days in office. Hybrid work)
  • Work schedule : Monday-Friday (40 hours / week)
