Postition : Director of Finance

Location : Minneapolis, MN

Salary : $130-150k discretionary bonus

Our rapidly growing client is seeking an experienced and hands-on finance leader to oversee financial, accounting, human resources, and IT activities. The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit, strong leadership skills, and an understanding of EOS. This role reports directly to the company President and serves as a key member of the leadership team, contributing to the organization's ongoing success and growth.

Job Overview

This is a critical role for a financial professional who thrives in a dynamic environment. The Director of Finance will lead financial operations, drive process improvements, ensure compliance, and support strategic decision-making. This individual will play a crucial role in shaping the company's future through financial planning, analysis, and leadership.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Accounting & Finance :

  • Oversee the company's finance and accounting operations.
  • Prepare and publish accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with GAAP standards.
  • Perform financial analysis to provide actionable insights for leadership decision-making.
  • Develop KPIs and scorecards to measure organizational performance.
  • Update and implement efficient financial processes.
  • Manage daily activities related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and cost accounting.
  • Oversee and optimize ERP system usage (Sage / NetSuite) to ensure data accuracy and efficient financial reporting.
  • Manage relationships with external CPA firms, banks, service providers, and insurance brokers.
  • Develop and oversee the budgeting and financial planning process.
  • Evaluate company ventures, special projects, and capital expenditures.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to protect company assets and prevent fraud.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting and tax requirements.

Human Resources :

  • Maintain compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Oversee benefits programs, including enrollment, renewals, and administration.
  • Administer 401(k) plans and related compliance.
  • Promote a growth-oriented culture.
  • Develop and communicate company policies.
  • Information Technology (IT) :

  • Provide strategic direction for the organization's technology infrastructure, including ERP implementation.
  • Oversee network security and ensure system reliability and efficiency.
  • Manage relationships with external IT service providers and telecommunications carriers.
  • Assist in assessing technology needs, budgeting for projects, and securing necessary resources.
  • Reporting Structure

  • Reports directly to the President.
  • Direct reports include : Accounts Payable / HR Specialist and Accounts Receivable / Billing Specialist.
  • Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5 years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably in a small company manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) preferred.
  • Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP.
  • Proficiency in Windows PC, Excel, and NetSuite ERP.
  • Strong IT skills with experience in ERP systems and business process optimization.
  • ERP implementation experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and executive presence.
  • Exceptional analytical, reasoning, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Customer-focused with a strong commitment to meeting internal and external expectations.
  • Highly action-oriented and deadline-driven.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, creativity, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion.
