Program Assistant - Montgomery County
Pathways to Housing DC is an innovative and nationally recognized nonprofit organization committed to ending homelessness for individuals with serious mental illnesses, co-occurring substance abuse disorders and/or other medical challenges in our Nation's capital and Maryland. Pathways is one of the originators of “Housing First”, in which we believe housing is a basic human right, and not earned.
The Program Assistant provides administrative, clerical and reception support for the Montgomery County Programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Welcomes consumers, guests, and staff in a courteous and professional manner.
- Answers and transfers calls
- Receives daily mail and/or faxes and distributes to appropriate departments
- Receives, processes, organizes, and submits medical records requests to requesting agency and/or appropriate personnel
- Provides reminder communications to consumers/teams informing them of upcoming/cancellation appointments
- Assists in the daily scheduling of consumers for appointments with staff.
- Ensuring the organization and cleanliness Supply Room
- Administrative tasks to include but not limited to:
- Maintain general office email inbox
- Processing petty cash and expense reports
- Oversite and organization of tangible client incentives
- Performs other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- One year or more experience as an Office Assistant/Receptionist
- Ability to maintain a professional decorum, even under challenging circumstances.
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to effectively manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Computer skills, including use of email and office systems.
- Patience, flexibility, creativity, compassion, and sensitivity to persons living with disabilities and other minority populations;
- Bilingual, (English, Spanish or other languages) highly desired.
