What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounts Payable Clerk position at Pavement Surface Control?
Purpose of Position
Performs a variety of general accounting tasks; code invoices by job & phase, reconcile credit card and monthly statements with invoices, verify accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents or records, resolve discrepancies, investigate questionable data. Accounts Payable Clerk reports to the Controller.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent, experience in accounts payable/receivable and/or the equivalent of formal education. Construction accounting experience preferred.
Working_ Conditions_
Physical Demand: Requires normal/corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Physical demand level is light; typically sits at a desk with intermittent standing and walking. Requires full range of body motion and good manual and finger dexterity. Some stress is imposed due to deadlines and time-sensitive demands.
Equipment Used: Standard office equipment such as personal computer, printer, calculator, fax/copy machine and telephone.
Hours of Work: Full-Time Monday through Friday.
Essential Job Functions
1. Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and resolving any discrepancies.
2. Posts unapproved invoice and requests invoice approval from project managers.
3. Reconciles and deposits checks into the bank.
4. Enters payable data into accounting system.
5. Accepts company credit card payments over the phone.
6. Reconciles company credit cards.
7. Answers multi-line phones.
8. Responsible for collection calls from vendors and documenting results.
9. Matches/prints out checks to pay vendors.
10. Fills out credit applications with vendors.
11. Tracks reseller permits.
12. Assists in the annual 1099.
13. Backs up and cross trains for other positions in accounting.
14. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
- Excellent communication skills when interacting with staff members, vendors and customers.
- Exceptional follow through on all activity.
- Ability to pay close attention to details and identify/correct mistakes.
- Manages time effectively and able to work in a fast paced environment.
- Working knowledge of accounting basics.
- Must be efficient in Microsoft programs such as Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe.
- Ability to plan, analyze, and organize work that needs to be done.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
