PBF Energy Inc. (NYSE:PBF) is one of the largest independent refiners in North America, operating through its subsidiaries, oil refineries and related facilities. We are seeking a talented Managing Counsel to join our team as a pivotal member that would play a key role here at PBF Energy. This role would be located at our refinery offices in Chalmette, Louisiana.
The Managing Counsel will support Chalmette Refining, LLC (CRC), among other responsibilities. Under general direction, resolves highly complex business or technical issues by identifying legal solutions and recommending a course of action. Represents the organization to customers, suppliers, competitors, and government agencies. Experienced in a broad range of legal areas such as health, safety and environmental matters, procurement and litigation as well as advising on labor and employment matters. May be a specialist of superior skill in a specific area of the law or a highly qualified senior generalist.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 8-10 years of progressively responsible legal experience in a practice area directly relevant to the role, preferably including experience with a national law firm and an established corporate law department. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- As a member of the CRC leadership team, providing and/or supervising all legal support for CRC regarding a broad spectrum of health, safety and environmental, employment and labor, procurement and litigation matters as well corporate matters relating to or affecting CRC. Advising on business and legal risks and appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
- Counseling on federal and state regulatory and compliance matters impacting the business, including but not limited to, Clean Air Act, Petroleum Refinery Sector Rule (NESHAPs/NSPS), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA).
- Developing a strong rapport and working relationship with the CRC management team to help drive the delivery of effective and high-quality legal services which are appropriately linked to relevant business needs.
- Effectively manage outside counsel in a cost-effective manner, whether transactional, litigation or compliance in nature, and appropriately work with other attorneys within the Legal Department who may also be involved in supporting certain matters and managing outside counsel (e.g., litigation, HR matters, certain health, safety and environmental areas).

- J.D. Degree required.
- Licensed to practice law in Louisiana, or another relevant jurisdiction with the ability to register as authorized In-House Counsel in Louisiana.
- Must be willing and able to travel as business need dictates.
