Role Summary/Purpose
As a Quality Engineer at the Integral Aerospace manufacturing facility in Santa Ana, CA, this role will focus on ensuring that the quality processes, products, and services meet both internal and external requirements, and to develop/execute continuous improvement/preventive action initiatives where non-conformances and opportunities for improvements are discovered within the organization. Responsible for specific customers, programs and projects and reviewing customer quality requirements.
Job Responsibilities
- Establish quality control criteria in terms of inspection requirements, methods and other flow down requirements to support customer requirements.
- Interact within company and external suppliers in the detection and resolution of quality problems. Determine and implement effective correction actions, utilizing one or more methodologies (5 Whys, A3, 8D), as required to avoid repeat non-conformances.
- Provide input and approve manufacturing routings, insuring mandatory inspection points are adequately defined and appropriately placed.
- Serve as an active member of the Material Review Board and disposition hardware in accordance with internal and customer requirements.
- Develops customer quality systems procedures, inspection plans, tracks quality performance trends, and lead FMEA and Corrective action activities, create control plans and conduct statistical analysis as required.
- Utilizes continuous improvement tools and methodologies for improvement of processes that comprise of the Quality Management System.
- Represents Company by interfacing with various internal and external customers to support on-site visits including supporting activities such as: audits, assessments and new product introductions and source inspections. Develops and coordinates corrective actions submissions as required.
- Oversees and has good understanding of inspections and applicable tests for assigned products and processes to ensure accurate requirement implementation and fulfillment of contractual requirements.
- Participates in the Engineering Change process: attends change board meetings to review various technical, inspection and test changes and assist in implementation tasks.
- Complete redline changes as applicable in accordance with established procedures.
- Performs customer contract and supplier purchase order reviews to ensure quality requirements flow down is completed.
- Prepare various reports using excel such as performance trending, first past yield, and other metrics as required.
- Support supply chain by interfacing with suppliers for Quality issues, introducing new flow down requirements or part inspection, monitors supplier performance and improvements plans as required.
- Primary focal for specific customer base to address any quality issues to resolution; responsible for accessing customer portal information downloads and implementation as applicable.
- Support company's Key Performance Indications, goals and objective in terms of support, execution of tasks, collecting and analyzing data, reporting status of Quality Management System (QMS) compliance.
- Participate and assist in QMS activities to support and ensure approval status of company's AS9100 certification.
- Perform various inspection and test as required to support business needs.
- Working with various cross functional teams on the manufacturing floor to resolve issues, provide various procedural updates, training and assistance as needed.
- Perform any other duties required or requested to support compliance and sustainability of the Quality Management System.
Required Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- 5 years quality engineering experience in Aviation / Aerospace industry experience
- Knowledge of AS9100 Requirements
- Knowledge of AS9102 Requirements and reporting
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and controls such as machining, heat-treat, welding, NDT -Penetrant and X-Ray inspection.
- Must read and write in English language
- Proficient in performing basic hand tool inspections
- Proficient in demonstrating usage of MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PPT) required to produce various analysis and reports.
- Experienced with blue prints, interpreting technical data: industry specifications; material, processes and customer specification requirements.
- Experience working with OEM's and Regulatory Agencies, e.g. Boeing, NAVAIR, and DCMA for example
- Experience with lean methodologies required: process improvement tools and techniques

- Capable of multi-tasking with sufficient ease to meet multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Demonstrate effective problem-solving, judgment, and good analytical skills
- Ability to create policies, policies, and inspection plans.
- Familiar with MRP and industry quality systems
- Familiar with FMEA and PPAP requirements and execution
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred
