Summary
The Estimator is responsible for accurately calculating the total costs associated with a project or the development of a new product, taking into consideration all relevant factors in the plan such as materials, labor and equipment.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Analyze documentation to prepare time, cost, materials and labor estimates.
- Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
- Consult with clients, vendors, sales and other departments to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve.
- Confer with sales, owners and clients on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
- Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing and scheduling work.
- Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors.
- Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
- Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project.
- Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers and contractors.
- Performs other duties as assigned

Competencies and Skills
- Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of employees as well as clients in a professional manner.
- Proficient with computers and have skills in programming. Familiarity with cost estimation software.
- Strong mathematical skills add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentage.
- Ability to analyze, compare, and interpret detailed information.
- Ability to make sound and accurate judgments.
- Excellent prioritization skills.
- Proven experience in the ability to focus on details, while analyzing and managing larger obstacles.

Education/Certification
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Prefer 2 year technical/business degree or equivalent
Experience
- 3 years of experience in estimating permanent fixtures
- Experience using Microsoft Office Products and Mac computers
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Walking, sitting, bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling and lifting may be required throughout the workday.
