PDQ Workholding & Tooling is seeking a skilled mill machinist with experience to manufacture parts for our world class fixturing and tooling. We use the latest CNC equipment to manufacture our fixtures and tools for the machining industry. We use SolidCam to program all machines, so this is an opportunity to expand upon your SolidCam knowledge. Employees are eligible for monthly profit-sharing bonuses and paid vacation after 90 days of employment as well as major medical insurance after 30 days of employment.
Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled CNC Tool Cutter-Grinder to join our manufacturing team. This position focuses on creating premium-quality, high-precision carbide cutting tools using ANCA grinding machines. You will be responsible for machine programming, setup, and operation while ensuring products meet strict manufacturing standards and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, set up, and operate CNC machines to produce tools according to product specifications.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to create custom programs for specialty tooling.
- Create and manage master programs for standard and custom cutting tools, including endmills, drills, keyway cutters, dovetail cutters, and reamers.
- Perform preventative maintenance and identify wheel wear for all grinding wheel types.
- Inspect products to ensure accuracy, uniformity, and quality throughout the manufacturing process.
- Troubleshoot and adjust programming and tooling as needed to maintain manufacturing efficiency.
- Provide general maintenance for grinding machines and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities for increased efficiency and quality.
- Ability to multi task and responsible for multiple machines
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 6 months of industry-related experience or a combination of education and experience.
- Certification in tool and cutter grinding from a qualified institution is preferred but not required.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints.
- Strong CNC programming and machine operation skills (ANCA experience preferred).
- Basic computer skills for data entry and retrieval.
- Knowledge of geometry, math conversions, and general cutting tool applications.
- Familiarity with quality control tools to inspect tools for defects.
Personal Attributes:
- Excellent manual dexterity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new processes through hands-on training.
- Ability to prioritize workload to maintain efficiency and meet deadlines.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing with occasional lifting, bending, and twisting.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally stoop, bend, or kneel.
