Purpose of Position:
To provide clerical service to the Engineering Department that will, through maximum confidence and quality of job performance, contribute to the Departments efforts in attaining the Cooperatives objectives.

- Sufficient hearing and vision to perform all job tasks. Impaired hearing and/or vision must not present a safety hazard to the employee, other employees and/or the general public.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver license and must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
- Must be able to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods during the work shift.
- Must possess at least basic typing, word processing, and/or computer skills and be able to operate general office machines.
- Must be able to communicate on a telephone and/or a two-way radio system.
- Must be able and willing to sometimes work outside in various types of weather. Some risks due to unrestrained pets.
Education Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Working Conditions:
This position is based on, but not limited to, a one year period. There will be a test at the end of this one year period. A competency test that will require a passing grade of 70% to progress to Probationary Engineering Tech. The test will consist of a written and field design and staking.
- Work is performed outside and in an office which is a controlled environment.
- Must be able to work as a team member.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
The following are essential responsibilities of this position and do not include marginal functions that are incidental to the performance of the fundamental job duties. The scope and duties of this position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Peace River Electric Cooperative. The basic requirement of every position is to perform all tasks as assigned by your supervisor. This document does not create an employment contract, implied or otherwise, other than an "at will" employment relationship.
- The most important and essential job function of the position is attitude and includes the following: a) getting along with co-workers, b) cooperating with co-workers, c) responding politely to customers, d) working as a team member, e) functioning under intense time pressure, f) responding in a positive manner to supervision. Completing job assignments.
- Provides map edits to the mapping system accurately within the first three months.
- Provides clerical services within the department within the first three months of employment.
- Possesses a working knowledge of the records used by the end of the first year of employment (pending, active, archived, easements, and permitting forms for all counties served).
- Prepares work orders, staking sheets, maps, and sketches from information provided. Manually and electronically (Trimble) prepare staking sheets within the first six months of employment.
- Design and stake single phase line extension according to RUS and NESC guidelines by the end of the first year of employment.
- Maintains Work Management Records and job flow procedures within the first three months of employment.
- Prepares statistical information as requested within the first six months of employment.
- Responds to assigned appointments, possibly 1 to 4 per day by the end of the first year of employment.
- Performs any and all related work matters requiring equal or lesser skills as may be required from time to time.
- Must be able to use and/or operate the following equipment; transit, rolotape measuring wheel, 100 300 measuring tapes, telescoping leveling rod, range rod, metal detector, machete, Laser and bush ax by the end of the first year of employment.
