Summary
Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities- Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
- Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
- Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
- Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
- Repairs or replaces defective parts.
- Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
- Lubricates and cleans parts.
- Starts devices to test their performance.
- Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
- Initiates purchase order for parts and machines.
- Repairs electrical equipment and 120 V electrical connections.
- Run and connect electrical wires for 120v and 480v.
- Troubleshoot and repair production and building equipment.
- Perform ongoing preventive maintenance and repair work on facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems.
- Perform facility inspections, prepare and submit reports of conditions in the building, and recommend actions to be taken.
- Support any building needs and activities as required.
- Update and maintain PM records.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, and ten (10) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Certified 480 V 3 Phase to as low as 5 VDC.
- Skilled in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry.
- Ability to troubleshoot (diagnose and repair issues) with overall supervision.
- Knowledge and experience in using power tools to perform repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Clear communication with supervisors and others to report issues/updates.
- Efficient with prioritization of multiple maintenance tasks with deadlines.
