Summary

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Starts devices to test their performance.
  • Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Initiates purchase order for parts and machines.
  • Repairs electrical equipment and 120 V electrical connections.
  • Run and connect electrical wires for 120v and 480v.
  • Troubleshoot and repair production and building equipment.
  • Perform ongoing preventive maintenance and repair work on facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems.
  • Perform facility inspections, prepare and submit reports of conditions in the building, and recommend actions to be taken.
  • Support any building needs and activities as required.
  • Update and maintain PM records.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, and ten (10) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Certified 480 V 3 Phase to as low as 5 VDC.
  • Skilled in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry.
  • Ability to troubleshoot (diagnose and repair issues) with overall supervision.
  • Knowledge and experience in using power tools to perform repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Clear communication with supervisors and others to report issues/updates.
  • Efficient with prioritization of multiple maintenance tasks with deadlines.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
