PEAK Genetics has an opportunity available to join our barn staff as a Livestock Specialist - Bull Handler in Watertown, WI! In this role, you will be a member of a highly skilled team supporting the daily care, health, and collection of our elite bulls. This team is also responsible for the maintenance of the facilities and equipment. Primary Responsibilities
- Assist in all aspects of providing care to and semen collection on Alta's proven bulls and young sires
- Be a key member of the semen collection team focused on maximizing semen quality and quantity and increasing number of sire
- Assist with daily feeding of bulls and cleaning of bull pens
- Assist the Veterinary staff as needed
- Overall maintenance of equipment, buildings, and grounds
Candidate Profile
Qualifications
- Good physical condition
- Strong work ethic
- Previous livestock handling experience
- Experience detecting health and disease problems in cattle
- Ability to perform basic equipment and building maintenance or repair skills
- Comfortable working with Microsoft Office for communication and documentation
- Excellent communication, teamwork, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Ability to work outside year round and perform physical tasks
- Demonstrated attention to safe working practices and attention to detail
- Ability to work rotational weekends and holidays
Education
- Degree in Animal or Dairy Science is considered an asset
