About the Position
We are growing and looking for qualified New York-admitted attorneys to join the Goetz Fitzpatrick team as we move forward with our upcoming merger to become Goetz Platzer as of January 1, 2025.  We are seeking a full-time attorney with 7 years of experience in Labor and Employment.  An attorney who is insightful, intuitively analytical, and self-directed in overseeing client files with partner input, insight and guidance but minimal day-to-day supervision will be successful in this role.  The attorney will enjoy opportunities to offer clients practical legal advice, engage in research, negotiate agreements, litigate, and represent clients in a wide array of labor and employment matters. This position is not intended for an insurance defense or Labor Law § 240/241 practitioner and applicants primarily in this field will not be considered.  This position is primarily situated in our New York office, offering some flexibility for remote work.

Annual base salary is $200,000 (Goetz Fitzpatrick LLP is not a lock-step firm and the exact amount of salary for this position is dependent on a variety of factors). In addition to base salary, the firm offers an annual discretionary bonus, paid time off, medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, 401k Profit Sharing Plan (employee-only contribution plan), and a pre-tax transportation benefits.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in labor and employment law, with a demonstrated mastery of employment litigation, including claims for discrimination, retaliation, trade secret misappropriation, wage and hour violations, and other employment-related claims.
  • Proven track record of advising business employers on a wide range of employment issues such as union claims, employee discipline and termination, policy development and implementation, prevailing wage matters, restrictive covenants, employment agreements, internal investigations, and leave of absence management.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills in interactions with judges, court staff, adversary counsel, and others. 
  • This position is not intended for an insurance defense or Labor Law § 240/241 practitioner and applicants in this field will not be considered.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply legal concepts to fact patterns and ideate practical solutions for clients.
  • Effective legal writing skills. 
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar and in good standing.
