Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical billing and coding, as well as experience in collections. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate and timely billing processes and maximizing revenue for the practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit accurate medical claims to insurance companies and patients.
- Review and process patient accounts, ensuring all information is complete and accurate.
- Utilize appropriate billing codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) for various medical procedures and services.
- Conduct thorough reviews of claims to ensure compliance with all billing regulations and guidelines.
- Manage accounts receivable, including the tracking of payments and follow-up on outstanding balances.
- Handle patient billing inquiries and resolve any billing discrepancies or issues.
- Perform collections activities, including contacting patients and insurance companies regarding overdue payments and setting up payment plans as necessary.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance policies, procedures, and regulations, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and administrative staff to ensure accurate and efficient billing processes.
- Generate and analyze billing reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Medical Billing Specialist or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of billing/coding and collections processes.
- Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, billing codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS), and insurance procedures.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with patients, insurance companies, and team members.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Certification in Medical Billing and Coding (preferred).

Pay: $16.79 - $17.72 per hour
