What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Counselor position at Pender County Government?
Ensure children's safety; manage children's behavior and act as a positive role model. Mentor constructive participation in summer day camp activities with children, ages 5 to 12. Camp will be held at South Topsail Elementary School.

Valid driver's license in the State of North Carolina.
This position is a safety sensitive position and subject to random substance abuse testing in accordance with the Pender County Personnel Policy and Risk Policy.This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires sitting and occasionally requires standing, walking, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. parks).

- Arriving at camp on time each day, ready and prepared to perform all camp staff functions and responsibilities.
- Assist Summer Day Camp Director and Assistant Director with Summer Day Camp programs by:
- Planning, organizing, and overseeing camper activities.
- Monitoring supplies and equipment.
- Maintaining accurate and detailed records pertaining to participants and staff .
- Participating in the general planning of the camp program.
- Supervising campers during snack time and lunch.
- Keep all equipment in good operating condition and be responsible for returning items to their proper place.
- Maintaining and cleaning assigned areas.
- Assisting with opening and closing duties as scheduled.
- Keeping campers safety in mind at all times.
- Reporting to the Camp Director any issues or difficult situations.
- Other duties as assigned.
