Full Job Description
Our client is a mid-size law Firm in New York City with a large and sophisticated team of attorneys and professionals. Our clients look to us to bring a high degree of quality and creativity to resolve legal challenges effectively. The Firm is seeking a talented and motivated Billing Specialist to join the team. As a full-time Billing Specialist, you will report to the Billing Manager/Controller and provide legal billing support to the firm.
Responsibilities
As a member of the Billing team, the candidate will participate in all processes and in all stages of the Firm’s billing matters. The primary responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, assisting lawyers with the following:
- Complying and posting bills for attorney hours to clients every month
- Review and edits pre-bills in response to attorney requests
- Execute complex bills in a timely matter and handle a high volume of bills per month
- Ability to effectively interact with all levels of attorneys and clients
- Review and verify accuracy of bills with attorney while ensuring all required supporting documents have been proved
- Utilize computerized billing software program (Tabs Management) to perform duties
- Generate billing reports using the computerized billing software
- Submit invoices through various e-billing platforms
- Always ensures strict confidentiality
- Assist with special projects as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- The ideal candidate will play a proactive role fostering collaboration, teamwork, clear communications and a solutions-oriented approach to team activities
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years’ hands-on billing experience; strongly prefer law firm experience
- Advance knowledge of Tabs Management or other equivalent billing management system
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office applications and able to learn new technology and software applications
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Superb attention to detail, as well as organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Must be able to handle highly sensitive information and always maintain confidentiality
- Self-motivated, resourceful, adaptable, and capable of working independently as well as in a team
