Accountant

Accountant – Hybrid | Temp or Temp-to-Hire | San Rafael | $33–$36/hour

Position Highlights:

• Start: ASAP
• Duration: 3 months, with potential for temp-to-hire
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, standard business hours
• Location: Hybrid – 3 days onsite in San Rafael (near SMART station), 2 days remote
• Requirements: Offer contingent on successful background check

In this role, you will:

• Maintain and reconcile accounting records for A/P, A/R, payroll, and benefits
• Prepare, code, and verify financial data; reconcile forms and financial documents
• Process invoices, requisitions, and financial transactions including journal and budget entries
• Reconcile accounts such as payroll, cash, and bank statements
• Maintain records for capital assets and inventory for reporting and audits
• Support payroll functions, including preparing timesheets and tracking leave balances
• Maintain employee files related to payroll, contracts, and accounting

We're looking for someone who has:

• Knowledge of accounting principles, including general ledger and fund/program accounting
• A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in accounting, business, or public administration preferred
• Familiarity with QSS, Frontline, or Escape accounting software highly preferred (they currently use QSS and plan to migrate in the next 1.5 years)
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills—written and verbal
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
