What you can expect as our Coordinator of Outreach Short Courses:
As our Coordinator of Outreach Short Courses of Outreach Short Courses, you will assist with all aspects of Outreach Program development and administration. You will report to and work directly with the Associate Director and their team to plan program content, market programs, hire and train staff, administer programs, and help maintain systems for student intake, report writing, and contact management. While a typical day would involve working in an office environment, as the Coordinator of Outreach Short Courses - you would also be expected to work during all scheduled Outreach programs, including programs that occur during weekends and MA school breaks. During an Outreach short course, the Coordinator would act in a role as a shift supervisor, responsible for leading student instruction, supervising staff, and administering medications. You would also work with the Outreach Team to implement data-gathering systems, write student reports, and gather demographic information on participants for marketing and fundraising purposes.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Expectations include the following:
- Assist in conducting research regarding student needs.
- Assist in designing, planning, and overseeing Outreach courses that offer instruction in critical skill areas related to transition and the Expanded Core Curriculum.
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising staff for Outreach courses.
- Responsible for the day-to-day implementation of short course programs, requiring that the candidate maintain a flexible work schedule.
- Communicate with parents, students, teachers, and/or stakeholders before, during, and after short courses, both verbally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain relationships with Local Education Authorities and teachers, health care providers, and state agency professionals.
- Assist in analyzing and making improvements to the processes used to manage student intake (ie: student applications, forms, contact management)
- Assist in developing systems for the collection of student data.
- Write student reports.
- Assist the Associate Director in managing elements related to the budget, including program materials, petty cash, and recreation.
- Explore and collaborate with community resources and service providers.
- Assist in creating and marketing an annual schedule of Outreach Short Courses.
- Assist in developing and creating systems that allow the Outreach building to be an accessible learning environment.
- Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and at least three (3) years of experience working with children and/or adults with visual impairments, including those with multiple disabilities
- Supervision experience
- Residential program experience preferred, not required
- First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is required
- A willingness and ability to become Med Cleared through an internal process and perform associated medication administration responsibilities
- Sign Language or willingness to learn desired.
