The Process Operator is responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and controlling the batch and continuous operations of process equipment, including managing emergency situations and use of procedures.
This is an hourly, on-site, full-time position in Toledo, Ohio.
Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts which will include weekends and holidays. (36-49 hours per week). Requires the availability to work on-call, overtime/additional shifts which includes days/nights, weekend and holiday work as needed depending on business/site needs.
Responsibilities include:
- Monitor, operate, and perform preventive maintenance on chemical process units, ensuring safe and environmentally sound practices.
- Conduct routine equipment checks, accurately read levels, pressures, and temperatures, and perform minor maintenance or oversee repairs with the Maintenance Department.
- Responsible for the safe start-up and shutdown of equipment, troubleshooting process and equipment deficiencies, and communicating issues to the Shift Manager.
- Adhere to all safety, environmental, and Control of Work (CoW) policies and procedures, while performing tasks primarily with minimal supervision.
- Understand and execute written and verbal instructions, functioning effectively as part of the Operations team to achieve site goals.

Requirements include:
- Education and Licensing: High School Diploma or GED required; 3rd Class Stationary Engineer’s license and/or High-Pressure Boiler License (State of Ohio) required.
- Industry Experience: 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a chemical plant, refinery, power plant, or similar industry, including military equivalent.
- Technical and Process Knowledge: Experience with distillation, filtration, separation, storage, shipping, chemical reactions, and strong knowledge of batch and continuous chemical manufacturing. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and Emerson Delta V DCS experience.
- Safety and Mechanical Skills: Adhere to all safety regulations, demonstrate excellent safety skills, and possess good mechanical aptitude.
- Required Attributes: Basic computer literacy (Windows OS, Microsoft Office), ability to work independently and collaboratively, and be self-directed, motivated, and organized.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to maintain a stationary position, perform various physical tasks (climb, bend, lift up to 50 pounds), work at heights, and comply with site regulations for PPE and clearances.
