Petro-Hunt, L.L.C, a Dallas, Texas mid-sized independent Oil and Gas Exploration Company, is seeking a Petroleum Land Analyst for its Uptown Dallas office.

The Petroleum Land Analyst role is vital to the set-up and maintenance of the Company’s ownership records. The candidate should have experience in oil and gas lease, title and division orders.


Job Description

  • Establish and maintain accurate ownership decks by analyzing various legal documents such as title opinions, assignments, deeds, trusts and estate documents.
  • Ability to analyze oil and gas leases, title documentation and various contracts with an emphasis in Texas, North Dakota, and Louisiana minerals.
  • Responsible for yearly payments obligations. 
  • Brief Leases, Contracts, Joint Operating Agreements, Assignments, Farmouts and Letter Agreements to understand obligations in order to set up in the Land software system.
  • Work closely with Landman to research suspense accounts and title issues.
  • Processes ownership transfers based on title documents to maintain a correct division of interest and joint interest billing deck.
  • Responds to division order inquiries to resolve ownership discrepancies.
  • Communicates and corresponds directly with interest owners and works closely with members of other departments.


Job Requirements

  • 5-7 years of Division Order and/or Lease and Title experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Energy related field preferred.
  • Strong computer skills in Excel, Word and other oil and gas websites and software.
  • Experience in Quorum software preferred but not required.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills as well as strong organizational skills.
  • An understanding of oil and gas leases, division orders and conveyance documents.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to perform duties at a fast pace with a high level of accuracy.
  • Have strong social skills and the ability to work well with others. 
  • An action-oriented personality with a strong sense of initiative, motivation and drive.
