Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Part-Time Safety & DOT Coach to support the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Manager in promoting a safe and compliant work environment at the Odessa, TX facility. The Safety & DOT Coach will assist and coach the HSE Manager in ensuring that the company adheres to safety regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) compliance, and industry best practices. This role will involve coaching employees, conducting safety training, and monitoring HSE/DOT-related activities to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- DOT Compliance Support:
- Serve as a resource for employees in addressing safety concerns and questions
- Assist in ensuring compliance with DOT regulations related to transportation and logistics.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure driver files, vehicle inspections, and hours-of-service logs are accurate and up to date.
- Provide guidance on DOT regulations and ensure that drivers and other employees are aware of their responsibilities.
- Safety Coaching & Training:
- Provide safety coaching to employees on workplace safety standards, DOT regulations, and best practices.
- Assist in conducting safety orientations and training sessions for new and existing employees.
- Deliver refresher courses on DOT compliance, safety practices, and hazard recognition.
- Incident Reporting & Investigation:
- Assist with investigating accidents, incidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain records of incidents and safety observations, ensuring that necessary actions are taken.
- Safety Inspections & Audits:
- Support the HSE Manager in performing regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards.
- Assist in implementing and tracking corrective actions based on audit findings.
- Documentation & Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate safety records, DOT compliance documentation, and training logs.
- Support the preparation and submission of safety reports to management.
- Safety Culture Promotion:
- Promote a strong safety culture by encouraging active participation in safety programs and initiatives.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional safety-related certifications (e.g., OSHA, DOT) preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a safety or DOT compliance-related role.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, safety protocols, and industry standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively coach and mentor employees.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a part-time capacity.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Ability to conduct safety audits and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Work Schedule
This is a part-time position, with flexible hours based on operational needs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform safety inspections in various environments, including outdoor locations.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds when needed.
