We have an outstanding opportunity for a talented, creative, and passionate Head Brewer to lead the brewery operations.

Position Summary

• The Head Brewer is responsible for leading the brewing team and all related activities.
• You will oversee a 15 BBL, 3 vessel brew house.
• In addition to managing all brewing and related activities, the Head Brewer will be an ambassador for Phantom Canyon Brewing, representing us at internal and external events, and partnering with restaurant management for beer dinners, internal events and ongoing training with the team.
• Leading and building the brewing team is central to the role; you should be committed to helping train and develop the brewing staff.

The Head Brewer is responsible for each of the following:

• All brewing operations, including scheduling, brewing, and cellaring;
• Managing a comprehensive quality control program, including sanitation and record keeping;
• Purchasing and inventory management, along with vendor relations;
• Recipe development, including creating new, award-winning beers; and
• Brewing team development, including recruitment and training.

Critically, the Head Brewer is responsible for the quality of finished beer. That may seem obvious, but it is what we do and you should have a real passion for ensuring that every beer released is of the highest quality. You’ll be responsible for tracking and addressing any variances or issues as they happen, allowing the brewery to continuously monitor and improve beer quality.

Qualifications

• Strong management and communication skills are essential, as is a sense of humor. A beard is not.
• A relevant degree (science or engineering) and at least 5 years of brewery management experience is necessary.
• A comprehensive, solid command of brewing science and quality control processes is critical. You should have experience with barrel-aging and sours.
