What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kids Art Teacher position at Philly Art Center?
Overview:
We are seeking a visual arts creative with classroom teaching experience to join our teaching team of art educators. This position will work with young artists, ages 3-12, in a wide range of materials and techniques in both 2-D and 3-D media.
We have a supportive leadership team that helps onboard, train and support teammates, ongoing. Our program team ensures rich curricula and thorough preparedness for classes. Ample prep time is built in for all classes taught. Applicants must love working with young children.
Duties:
- Manage art supplies and maintain an organized art studio
- Engage a whole-child approach to support each child's experience from the creative learning to being a part of a studio-community
- Navigate a wide variety of art materials in an organized classroom approach to support learning
- Team collaboration as all aspects of our work are supported in a team approach
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (major or minor) in visual art or art education or art therapy
- Previous experience teaching young/elementary age children
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
Requirements:
- Weekdays w/ 1 day regular weekday off
- Saturdays
-Must be able to list 35lbs and be on your feet throughout the work day
- Clearances and CPR certification
-Interview process: virtual interview, then 3 hour in-person interview classroom observation
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
