The Sanitation Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the sanitation operations during the post-production shift at Philly’s Best. This position is crucial in ensuring that the facility adheres to high cleanliness and food safety standards in line with the USDA. The Sanitation Manager is responsible for leading and coaching a team of sanitation workers, ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation standards, maintaining cleaning schedules, and troubleshooting any facility issues that arise during the night.
Reports to: FSQA Manager
Status: Full-Time / Non-Exempt
Salary: $75,000 – 85,000
Schedule:
Monday – Friday 5:00PM – 1:00 AM, Saturdays as needed.
Occasionally, additional hours may be required to complete tasks and/or projects or attend meetings with the leadership team.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
· Manage a team of sanitation workers including performance management, scheduling, training and development, productivity management, and delegating responsibilities
· Ensure the plant and all equipment are properly cleaned and sanitized per company standards, regulatory requirements, and food safety protocols
· Leads by example by performing cleaning in accordance with established guidelines and specifications
· Responsible for SSOP creation of new equipment and SSOP maintenance of existing equipment
· Responsible for purchasing and inventory of all chemicals (Caustic, Acid, Sanitizers), PPE, and cleaning tools used in the sanitation process.
· Complete daily chemical titrations
· Create and Maintain Master Sanitation Schedule
· Coordinate with day-shift management to ensure a smooth transition between shifts.
· Coordinate with FSQA and Production Managers to review department priorities or resolve Sanitation issues.
· Monitor the facility during night hours, identifying and addressing any issues related to sanitation, safety, or equipment. Escalate issues to appropriate departments as needed.
· Responsible for continuous improvement of Sanitation policies and procedures
· Responsible for supporting organizational objectives and strategic initiatives
· Responsible for scaling Sanitation program to include new facilities and growth plans
· Skills and Qualifications:
· Understanding of Food Processing Sanitation, preferably in a USDA facility, is strongly preferred.
· A working knowledge of chemical usage, chemical application, and chemical titration.
· 2-3 years of Sanitation Manager experience required.
· Strong leadership skills.
· HACCP knowledge.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office.
· Ability to work on your feet for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in wet and cold environments.
· Basic mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills are an advantage.
